Recycling Rate Increase = Utility Bill Discount
The City of Wentzville is passionate about encouraging our residents to be forward thinking and to care about the world we live in – specifically our corner of the world here in the Wentzville community. To that end, we have been awarded a grant by the St Louis-Jefferson Solid Waste Management District and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, which will fund a recycling education campaign during 2017-2018. In November, we will launch a five-month Citywide recycling challenge – known as the "Recycle More! Trash Less. Challenge." In addition to educating the public about what is and what isn’t recyclable, how contamination rates can be lowered, where to recycle odd items such as textiles and batteries, etc., we will also be encouraging residents to increase their recycling rates.
Wentzville has recycling/trash pickup five days a week, each day trash/recycling from a different section of our community is collected. From Nov. 1, 2017, to March 31, 2018, we will be recording recycling rates for each day of the week, separately. This will help to determine which day of the week is the winner! Every household within that "day of the week" team will receive $3 off of three months’ worth of recycling bills in 2018.
So what can you do? We need your help! Please tell your neighbors about the Recycle More! Trash Less. Challenge. And be sure to watch for challenge tips on the City's social media channels.
We’re also on the lookout for Recycling Rockstars! Do you or someone you know go above and beyond to recycle? If you rock at recycling, then we want to hear from you! Share your rockin’ recycling tips at firstname.lastname@example.org.
