Solid Waste & Recycling Information
RECYCLING CHANGES AS OF DEC. 1, 2018
The City contracts residential solid waste, recycling and yard-waste collection through Meridian Waste Solutions, INC. This contract provides a high level of service for all households at lower rates. Collection costs are consolidated with the water and sewer service monthly bill.
The services include weekly trash and recycling pickup and seasonal yard waste pickup. All weekly items are collected on the same day in their own separate containers. Items should be placed at the curb by 6 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day.
Setup or Change Solid Waste and Recycling Service: To set up or change solid waste and recycling service, along with water and sewer service, please complete the Application for Residential Occupancy and Utility Services or contact Public Works at (636) 327-5102 or Utility Services at (636) 639-2155.
As of Jan. 1, 2018, rates for pickup are:

Large items may be more than one charge. An exact amount cannot be guaranteed until items are picked up. To schedule a large-item pickup, please call (636) 327-5102. Residents must schedule large-item pickups a minimum of two business days before their weekly sanitation pickup day.
Special Needs Collection Services:
Our solid waste contractor, Meridian Waste Solutions, offers Special Needs Service Collection when all adults at an address have special needs or disabilities that prevent them from setting their Trash Cart, Trash Bags, Recycling Carts, Recycling Bags, Yard Waste Carts and Yard Waste Bags at the curb for Collection. If a request for Special Needs Service is approved by the City, Meridian Waste Solutions will pick up the trash at or near the garage door or front door of the home at no additional charge to the resident. Meridian Waste Solutions performs Special Needs Service Collection on the same day that curbside Collection is provided on that street. Yard-waste collections begin the first full week in March and continues through the last week of December. Cancellations are accepted between Dec. 1, 2017 and April 27, 2018. Residents who do not wish to cancel service will automatically receive Yard Waste collection again beginning March 1, 2018. Residents who receive yard-waste pickup should set yard-waste out on the same day they set out trash and recycling. Everything should be at the curb by 6 a.m. on the appropriate morning.
If residents prefer to provide their own can, it must be clearly marked with "Yard-Waste-Only" stickers on the top and both sides of the can. Residents can request "Yard-Waste-Only" stickers by calling Public Works at (636) 327-5102.
Resident who wish to use the yard-waste per bag service will need schedule a pickup with Public Works at (636) 327-5102 a minimum of two business days before their weekly sanitation pickup day. Yard-waste will need to be placed in biodegradable yard-waste bags and set at the curb by 6 a.m.
Yard waste includes leaves, grass clippings, or limbs and branches. Limbs and branches should not be more than 4 feet long, 3 inches in diameter or weigh more than 40 pounds. Also, bundles should be tied with a natural twine or other bio-degradable binding material. Yard waste DOES NOT include dirt, sod, rock, concrete, asphalt, lumber, tree stumps or logs more than 3 inches in diameter.
